Boehringer Ingelheim Aims to Streamline Clinical Quality Assurance Operations Globally with Sparta Systems’ TrackWise Software

Holmdel, NJ - June 6, 2008 - Sparta Systems, Inc. (Sparta), the maker of TrackWise®, and the marketleader in enterprise quality and compliance management software, today announced that Boehringer Ingelheim, a top 20 global pharmaceutical company, has selected Sparta to further enhance the planning and reporting functions of its system, product and process audits in the field of Clinical Quality Assurance Operations. The company also plans to use TrackWise to track necessary corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) across its various clinical divisions. Prior to Sparta, Boehringer Ingelheim was using standard Microsoft Word files to support these functions.

Boehringer Ingelheim’s Clinical Quality Assurance practice is organized globally across the sites Germany,
the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia. TrackWise will support the global, integrated clinical
quality assurance system that will streamline its operations across all locations. TrackWise will help to
improve Boehringer Ingelheim maintaining oversight of all planned and conducted clinical quality audits
including tracking of findings and CAPAs. This process is presently facilitated manually.
